In a bid to secure overwhelming support for National Resistance Movement (NRM) party chairman, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, youth leaders from across the country convened in Kampala today to strategise on mobilising millions of young voters ahead of the forthcoming general elections.

The meeting, led by Nakku Fiona, focused on uniting youth under a single agenda of campaigning for President Museveni. Nakku commended the leaders for their commitment, emphasising the importance of empowering young people to play a decisive role in the elections.

“We are not campaigning for anyone else but the president. I welcome you all to this historic meeting. It has been established to unite young people and mobilise support for the president. Our movement recognises the significant number of young voters… Together, we can deliver 13 million votes in the upcoming general elections,” she said.

Medarn Baryaija, the youth chairperson in Sheema District, echoed the same vision, urging fellow youth leaders to fully utilise grassroots structures. “We are confident that once we mobilise the 13 million youth in the country, President Museveni will achieve a landslide victory because that is our goal. As young leaders, no one knows our districts better than we do. Let’s actively participate and share ideas,” he stated.

The mobilisation drive comes at a critical time, as in the last general election President Museveni secured victory with less than 60% of the vote. According to NRM insiders, the party is determined to secure a significantly stronger mandate in 2026, prompting new mobilisation strategies led by the youth.

Rashida Kantono, a youth leader from Bundibugyo, pledged her commitment to the campaign. “I want to assure the party’s top leadership that President Museveni will win by a large margin. Young people support him, but many current leaders have been ignoring us,” she said.

Ssenyange Muhammad, representing the Central Region, vowed to deliver victory in his area, while Macklin, a youth leader from Mitooma District, also promised to work tirelessly to ensure Museveni’s win.

The youth leaders agreed that by uniting under this mobilisation platform, they will consolidate support for Museveni and strengthen the NRM’s position in the forthcoming elections.
