The Wakiso District Returning Officer, Tulbert Musinguzi, has urged all candidates contesting for parliamentary seats to strictly follow the electoral laws and security guidelines issued by the Electoral Commission.

Musinguzi said this will help prevent confusion and ensure peaceful campaigns ahead of the January 15, 2026 general elections. He made the remarks at the district headquarters in Wakiso, while addressing candidates and their agents on how to conduct orderly and lawful campaigns.

He reminded all aspirants to respect the campaign timetable and avoid engaging in election activities outside the official period.

Musinguzi also warned against acts of defamation and vandalism of opponents’ posters, saying anyone caught destroying or removing another candidate’s campaign materials will face prosecution.

Meanwhile, ASP Charlotte Ndyahabwe, the Deputy Officer in charge of Traffic and Road Safety in Wakiso district, said the police are fully prepared to manage traffic during the campaign season to ensure smooth movement for both candidates and residents.

ASP Ndyahabwe dismissed claims that police are favoring the ruling NRM party or suppressing opposition candidates, urging all politicians to cooperate with law enforcement and follow traffic regulations during campaign activities.
