Victoria University Kampala yesterday held its 9th graduation ceremony at Speke Resort Convention Centre, Munyonyo, under the theme “Shaping the Future: Innovation, Dignity, Employability.”
A total of 2,029 students graduated with degrees, diplomas, and certificates in various disciplines including Law, Nursing and Midwifery, Journalism and Mass Communication, among others.
In a touching gesture, Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia and his wife Jyostna Ruparelia offered 100 full scholarships to the best undergraduate students of the Class of 2025, in memory of their late son Rajiv Ruparelia, who passed away in May this year.
Prof. Lawrence Muganga, the University Vice Chancellor, applauded the Ruparelia family for their generosity and thanked parents for their continued support to the institution.

The Kyabazinga of Busoga, His Majesty Wilberforce Gabula Nadiope IV, who presided over the ceremony as chief guest, commended the University for embracing Artificial Intelligence (AI) and preparing students for the future.
“As you step into your careers, remember that you need God. You have been equipped to be innovators, problem-solvers, and job creators. Go and create jobs for others. Use your digital skills to bring people together, not apart,” the Kyabazinga advised. “A leader serves and uplifts others. Commit to lifelong learning. Congratulations and may God bless you, for God and my country.”

Dr. Obafemi from the United Kingdom, who delivered the guest speech, congratulated the Ruparelia family for the scholarship gesture and encouraged graduates to continue learning.
“Today is a day of celebration. It is important to appreciate Victoria University for imparting skills into students. Class of 2025, make it your habit never to stop learning,” he said.
Prof. Opuda Asibo John, the University Chancellor, who conferred the awards, advised graduates to remain faithful and humble before God.
“Faith in God and humility will enable you to achieve success in life. Believe in yourselves; you are that big dream. Remember that knowledge never ends,” he said.
Among the graduates was Muzeeyi Ngarambe, the Deputy Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Ntoroko District, who thanked the University for creating a vibrant online learning system.
“I completed my bachelor’s at Makerere 15 years ago, but today I have attained my master’s in Public Management and Administration. I thank my family, friends, and supervisors for always believing in me,” he shared.

The Executive Director of Mulago National Referral Hospital, Dr. Rosemary Byanyima, applauded Victoria University for contributing to the training of medical professionals, noting that Mulago partners with the institution to offer students practical experience and clinical exposure.
During the ceremony, students from the Faculty of Health Sciences took the Nightingale Oath as required by law. The best overall student was Daniel, an international student, who was recognized and rewarded alongside other outstanding performers.
