Following the successful conclusion of the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) examinations organized by the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB), candidates for Senior Six across the country were today officially briefed by their respective school heads.

According to UNEB, a total of 166,402 candidates have registered for the 2025 Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) examinations, compared to 141,996 last year. The candidates will sit for their exams at 2,844 centers nationwide under the theme: “Emphasizing security and holistic assessment of learners in a dynamic environment.”

The Headteacher of Kyadondo Secondary School in Matugga, Hajji Ismael Waligo, said the briefing exercise was successful and expressed confidence that their 395 registered candidates will perform well.

“First of all, I want to thank the Almighty Allah who has enabled us to reach this far. We have had a very successful briefing where we deeply explained to the candidates what they are supposed to do and what they should avoid during the examinations. We are hopeful they will follow the guidelines,” Waligo said.

He added that the school has consistently produced students who excel, noting that last year four candidates scored 20 points. “When learners see that others have achieved such results, it builds their confidence and faith that they too can succeed. We even prayed for them together with their parents,” he added.

Waligo further thanked the teachers for completing the syllabus on time, saying it has greatly contributed to the school’s performance. He urged students to maintain discipline and respect their parents. Regarding the upcoming general elections, he cautioned eligible student voters to remain peaceful and avoid engaging in any form of riot or unrest.

In a similar spirit, Nalusiba Waligo, one of the candidates preparing for the examinations, expressed gratitude to God and the teachers for guiding them through their studies.

“I thank the Almighty Allah for keeping us safe up to this day. We believe we shall write our examinations peacefully. I also thank our teachers for their dedication. My message to fellow candidates is to remain humble and respectful to parents and people around us. UNEB is not the end of the world we still have much to achieve,” she said.

Kasujja Abudhakim, speaking on behalf of the male candidates, applauded the teachers for their commitment and pledged that the students would not disappoint them. He encouraged his peers to trust in God not only during the examination period but throughout their lives.

It should be noted that on Monday, November 10, Senior Six candidates will begin their first papers, which include History of Africa (1855–1914), Physics, and Kiswahili, among others. Schools have been reminded to avoid any form of examination malpractice, as offenders will face action in accordance with the UNEB Act.
