On September 29, 2025, the Electoral Commission cleared eight presidential candidates to begin canvassing for votes across the country. Following this development, the First Deputy Prime Minister of Uganda and Woman Member of Parliament for Kamuli District, Rt. Hon. Rebecca Kadaga, together with other National Resistance Movement (NRM) leaders, launched the Busoga Subregion Campaign Task Force to rally support for NRM presidential candidate Yoweri Museveni.

The launch took place at Century Resort Hotel in Mayuge District. While addressing party members, the former Speaker of Parliament revealed that she had held several meetings with the NRM National Chairman and President, during which she pushed for Busoga’s key interests — including job creation, tourism development, support for fish farmers, and revitalisation of the sugarcane industry.
“I have had many conversations with the President, and I have insisted on our priorities in the Busoga region. Some have already been fulfilled,” she said briefly.

The meeting was also attended by the Minister of State for Housing, Hon. Persis Namuganza, who urged residents to vote for President Museveni.

Meanwhile, candidate Yoweri Museveni, while addressing supporters in Namisindwa District, explained the need for Ugandans to take advantage of government programs aimed at improving household incomes.
“In the 1960s, we taught that development and wealth are not the same. You can have development, but only a few benefit unless people use opportunities to create wealth. That is why we send funds through Entandikwa, NAADS, OWC, PDM, Emyooga, and the Youth and Women funds to help households join the money economy. We shall continue and even increase this support,” Museveni stated.
He is expected to continue his campaign trail today in Bududa District, where he will emphasise government wealth creation programs.

In Kayunga District, the presidential flag bearer for the Common Man’s Party (CMP), Mubarak Munyagwa, urged citizens to fight for their freedom by actively participating in the forthcoming general elections. He advised voters to elect leaders who would deliver meaningful services to them.

Similarly, the National Unity Platform (NUP) presidential candidate, Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi, while addressing supporters in Rwampara, Western Uganda, called on Ugandans to join the struggle to change the country’s top leadership. He reminded them to turn up and vote on January 15, 2026. Kyagulanyi was accompanied by his wife, Itungo Kyagulanyi, and other party leaders.

Campaigns are scheduled to end on January 13, 2026
