As part of efforts to promote talent development in the country, the Executive Director of the environmental conservation initiative Every Birthday Tree Day Initiative (EBTDI), Dr Denis Daniel Ssemugenyi, has met with former football players and encouraged them to strengthen their support for young children with football talent, enabling them to develop professionally and potentially represent the nation.
Dr Denis Daniel Ssemugenyi met the former players, who are members of the Uganda Former Footballers Initiative, at their offices in BMK House, Kampala. During the meeting, he urged them to embrace environmental conservation, particularly by planting trees on their birthdays as a means of protecting and preserving the environment.
He also invited them to participate in the official launch celebrations of the tree-planting initiative, which will take place during a music and drama festival on 20 December at Millennium Park, Lugogo.
Dr Ssemugenyi further pledged to work closely with the former footballers through various programmes aimed at promoting football talent among Uganda’s youth. In the same spirit, the Secretary of the Uganda Former Footballers Initiative, Kennedy Lubogo, thanked Dr Denis Daniel Ssemugenyi for supporting their activities and expressed readiness to collaborate, particularly on environmental conservation efforts.
