The Vice Chancellor of Victoria University, Professor Lawrence Muganga, has announced the passing of his mother, Immaculate Kayonga.

In a message shared on social media yesterday, Prof. Muganga described his mother as his hero, source of strength, and greatest inspiration. He said her love shaped the person he is today and thanked God for the gift of her life and the legacy she leaves behind, while asking the public to keep the family in prayers during this difficult time.

In a deeply emotional tribute, Prof. Muganga wrote a personal letter to his late mother, describing Sunday, December 21, 2025, as the most difficult day of his life. He said it was the day God called her home to rest with Him. While expressing the pain of losing her, he noted that he finds comfort in believing she has reunited with her husband, her daughters Teddy, Goretti, and Tina, her parents, and other loved ones who passed on before her.

He described her as the center of his world, noting that everything he has achieved carries the mark of her love, sacrifice, and faith. Prof. Muganga praised her selflessness, kindness, and devotion to helping others, saying her love knew no boundaries and that she lived to comfort, uplift, and pray for everyone.

He further stated that the family remains united and strong, including her children Lawrence, Vivian, Hellen, Emeltha, and Sebastian, as well as her grandchildren. He said they are committed to preserving her legacy by living lives of love, faith, forgiveness, and service to others.

Prof. Muganga concluded by saying that although their hearts are broken, they have not lost hope, as they believe she is in the presence of the Lord she faithfully served. He thanked her for raising and loving them unconditionally and for teaching them how to live a life pleasing to God.

Burial arrangements indicate that Immaculate Kayonga will be laid to rest tomorrow in Mukono District.
