The Independent Presidential Advisor on Trade and Investment and Chairman of Truxor Wetland Equipment Company in Uganda, Dr. Jim Tibuhaburwa, has highlighted the benefits of his recent official visit to Sweden, describing it as productive and significant for Uganda’s development.

In a media statement, Dr. Tibuhaburwa said he participated in high-level technical and strategic engagements, including a visit to the headquarters of Truxor Wetland Equipment AB in Dorotea, Sweden.

“Recently, I had the honour of participating in high-level technical and strategic engagements in Sweden, including a visit to the headquarters of Truxor Wetland Equipment AB in Dorotea, where we held in-depth discussions on Uganda’s water management challenges and sustainable environmental solutions,” he said.

He explained that the engagements are timely, especially as Uganda continues to face challenges such as flooding, wetland degradation, climate change impacts, and urban drainage problems. Dr. Tibuhaburwa noted that the Truxor amphibious technology showcased in Sweden offers practical, efficient, and environmentally friendly solutions for wetland restoration, stormwater management, irrigation channels, as well as lake and river maintenance.

“Importantly, this engagement goes beyond technology. It opens doors for knowledge transfer, skills development, and youth empowerment,” he added.

Dr. Tibuhaburwa further stated that through such international partnerships, Ugandan youth, particularly engineers, technicians, environmental scientists, and vocational graduates stand to benefit through technical training and capacity building, hands-on exposure to modern environmental and water-management technologies, job creation through local assembly, maintenance and operations, as well as entrepreneurship opportunities in environmental services and green innovation.

He emphasized that the visit also demonstrated how public–private partnerships between Uganda and advanced manufacturing economies such as Sweden can promote sustainable development without compromising environmental integrity. He added that such collaborations align with Uganda’s Vision 2040 and global commitments on climate action and sustainability.

Additionally, Dr. Tibuhaburwa revealed that he received a donation of footballs from friends in Newcastle and the United Kingdom, which he intends to distribute to youth in Isingiro District as a way of promoting talent development through sports.

He reaffirmed his commitment to championing initiatives that translate international exposure into tangible benefits for Uganda, with a strong focus on youth inclusion, technology transfer, and sustainable development.

In the same statement, Dr. Tibuhaburwa encouraged Ugandans to actively participate in the forthcoming general elections scheduled for 15 January 2026.

“As Uganda approaches the 2026 General Elections, I urge all Ugandans to exercise their democratic right to vote responsibly. I encourage every eligible voter to support President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and to participate peacefully in the electoral process,” he said.

He specifically appealed to the youth to refrain from election-related violence. “After casting your vote, do not linger at polling stations—vote and return home. Let us all remain productive members of society immediately after the elections, contributing to the growth and stability of our nation. Peaceful and responsible participation is the duty of every citizen,” Dr. Tibuhaburwa emphasized.
