The President General of the Revolutionary People’s Party (RPP), Mr. Bulira, on Monday addressed the nation following the recently concluded general elections, outlining the party’s performance and its way forward. The address was delivered at the party’s headquarters in Kampala.
“I wish to thank all Ugandans who placed their trust in me,” Bulira said. “From our tally of 93 percent of the votes, 65,425 Ugandans stood with us, representing 0.61 percent of the national vote, placing us in fourth position. These votes are not mere statistics; they are voices, convictions, and a clear signal that the desire for change, justice, and inclusion remains alive.”
However, Bulira noted discrepancies between the party’s tally and the results announced by the Electoral Commission.
“While the Electoral Commission declared results giving us 45,959 votes, representing 0.415 percent and placing us fifth, we must also speak honestly about the constraints we faced,” he said. “The deliberate incapacitation of our resource pool significantly limited our ability to conduct the number of rallies and grassroots engagements we had planned. This affected our reach, but it did not weaken our resolve.”
He emphasized that RPP’s struggle goes beyond a single electoral cycle.
“Our mission was never a short-term contest. It is a long-term struggle for the full liberation of Uganda’s potential as a nation,” Bulira said. “Our commitment remains firm—to continue working tirelessly, peacefully, and strategically to build an inclusive Uganda that recognizes all regions, empowers all citizens, and advances our federal agenda as a foundation for equitable development.”
He reassured supporters that the election outcome does not mark the end of the party’s journey.
“To our supporters, partners, and the wider Ugandan public, this is not the end of the road. It is a reaffirmation of purpose. We move forward with clarity, unity, and unwavering dedication to the Uganda we all deserve,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, the National Unity Platform (NUP) spokesperson, Hon. Joel Senyonyi, has assured the country that the party president, Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu, popularly known as Bobi Wine, is safe and in good condition.
Senyonyi said Kyagulanyi left his home after security personnel allegedly attempted to arrest him.
“Our president is safe. He left his home because there was an attempt to arrest him illegally,” Senyonyi said. “However, I want to assure the country that wherever he is, he is doing well.”
