More than thirty Ugandans will be awarded medals in recognition of their contribution to the liberation of the country since the National Resistance Movement (NRM) government took power in 1986.

The Minister for the Presidency, Milly Babirye Babalanda, made the remarks while addressing a press conference at the Media Centre in Kampala, as Uganda prepares for the upcoming Liberation Day celebrations scheduled for the 26th January at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds.

The minister said the country has registered many achievements over the last 40 years since the current government assumed power, developments that have driven Uganda forward. She noted that this year’s celebrations are being held under the theme: “Honouring the Patriotic Citizens Who Have Brought About Fundamental Change.”

She further called upon all Ugandans to turn up in large numbers and participate in the celebrations, citing the achievements delivered by the NRM government for the country.
