As the third term holiday draws closer to an end in the coming weeks, Phaneroo Ministries has organized a special prayer conference for young people, particularly teenagers and youth from various institutions, dubbed the Inter-Schools Conference.
The fourth edition of the conference was held on Saturday at the Phaneroo Grounds in Naguru, Kampala, attracting tens of thousands of students from different schools and institutions.
While preaching to the congregation, the Lead Pastor of Phaneroo Ministries, Apostle Grace Lubega, delivered a sermon from Acts chapter 4, which focuses on the teachings of the disciples, the attacks they faced, and the special prayer they made to God while in the upper room.
Apostle Lubega preached on what he termed “The Prayer of Every Witness.” He emphasized that being born again comes with a calling to be a witness and a testimony of Christ.
He encouraged the young people, noting that although many of them love Christ, some feel ashamed to openly identify as born-again Christians due to peer pressure. He challenged them to boldly stand for their faith, saying this is the year the world should know they are born again.
He further urged the youth to speak about Jesus even in environments where such conversations are discouraged, adding that God desires to use them to change the world by winning souls. He told them that some will become preachers, others engineers, doctors, and professionals for Christ, and encouraged them to be “something for Jesus.”
Apostle Lubega reassured the students that God wants to use young people and that a move of God has already begun. He added that parents are comforted knowing their children are in God’s presence rather than in places of wrongdoing. He concluded by urging the youth to align their prayers with God’s mission and to first give themselves fully to God.
Several students shared testimonies about why they attended the conference and how it impacted them.
Nakayiza Sharon, a student at Makerere College School, said she was grateful to God for the opportunity to attend the conference. She explained that each time she attends Phaneroo meetings, she feels God’s presence. Sharon noted that teenagers face many challenges, yet parents are often too busy to fully listen to them. She said she was thankful that at the conference she was able to speak to one of the pastors about issues she had found difficult to share with her parents.
Edgar, a student at Mengo Senior School, described the conference as a life-changing experience. He said the event gave him an opportunity to personally connect with Jesus through prayer. He added that although he rarely attends church due to various challenges, encouragement from friends motivated him to attend the conference. Edgar said he enjoyed the prayer and worship sessions and expressed confidence that God had heard his prayers. He also thanked Pastor Francis for addressing issues affecting young people, including personal struggles, and for guiding them on how to overcome them.
Other attendees expressed gratitude to Apostle Grace Lubega and Phaneroo Ministries for organizing what they described as a transformative conference. They said the event enabled them to pray, worship, and learn how to live as Christians while at school, with the aim of winning souls for Christ.
Apostle Lubega urged the youth to always find time to seek God and not to live like unbelievers. Pastor Francis Mayinja encouraged young people to bring their struggles into the light, find accountable mentors who can correct them, and pray with them so they can experience positive change for the glory of God.
