Following the release of the 2025 Senior Four results by the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB), schools across the country celebrated impressive performances in the Uganda Certificate of Education examinations.

Headteachers and candidates who spoke to journalists attributed their success to the grace of God, hard work, and cooperation among parents, teachers, and learners. They encouraged the small percentage of candidates who did not pass—estimated at 0.05 percent—to remain hopeful and register again this year, emphasising that failure is not the end of the academic journey.

Hajji Ismail Waligo, Director of Kyadondo Secondary School Matuga, expressed gratitude after all more than 400 candidates from his school passed with Result One. He said the achievement was by the grace of God, noting that the students were not inherently different from those who failed elsewhere, but were enabled to succeed.

He thanked parents for fulfilling their responsibilities, particularly during candidate classes, by ensuring that learners met all school requirements on time so they could concentrate fully on their studies. He also appreciated teachers for completing the syllabus on schedule and guiding learners throughout the academic year. Waligo further recognised the non-teaching staff for supporting students’ welfare, particularly in ensuring meals were served on time.

He appealed to the government to consider reducing taxes imposed on private schools, arguing that they are supporting the government’s responsibility to educate citizens. He urged parents to continue entrusting schools with their children and encouraged learners who did not succeed to try again rather than drop out.

At God’s Way High School Maganjo in Nansana Municipality, Wakiso District, the Director of Studies, Lukyamuzi Musa, also praised the performance of their candidates. He revealed that most students scored A and B grades, with all passing in Result One.

Musa said he was overwhelmed by the milestone and thanked God for enabling the learners to perform well. He urged parents to appreciate the school’s efforts and continue entrusting them with their children, expressing confidence that the institution will continue shaping the lives of many learners.

The students who passed likewise credited their success to God Almighty and encouraged their peers who did not pass to register again and work harder.

Meanwhile, in a separate development, the Chairperson of boda boda riders in Kampala Central Division, Kanyike Kivir, confirmed that they are ready to work with the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) enforcement team to eliminate ungazetted stages in the city.

Kivir said boda boda leaders welcome the government’s move to regulate stages, noting that they have long been calling for action on the matter. He expressed readiness to collaborate with KCCA to ensure proper implementation and restore order in Kampala.
