The State House Local Content Unit, headed by Hajat Aminah Mukalazi, has announced plans to hold an event to congratulate Yoweri Museveni for winning the recently concluded general elections.
Speaking during a press conference today at their offices in Naguru, Mukalazi said the unit did not work alone but collaborated with various groups within the National Resistance Movement (NRM) who mobilized support across the country to ensure the president’s victory.
The meeting was attended by different groups, including mobilizers who went to the grassroots to campaign for the party. Mukalazi said the celebrations will take place on Friday this week and called upon supporters to attend and show appreciation to the president.
“I want to thank all of you for coming to this meeting. We have come here to remind ourselves about this Friday’s gathering where we have organized to congratulate the president for winning this election. We want to thank all of you who were able to mobilize for the president. It is because of your hard work that we were able to emerge as winners,” she said.
Those who attended the meeting pledged to continue mobilizing support for the party, saying it is their responsibility as mobilizers to promote the party and its leaders. However, they also urged party leaders to recognize their efforts and consider offering them financial support.
Meanwhile, one of the trade leaders in Kampala, Godfrey Katongole, raised concerns over how city developer Hamis Kiggundu is handling issues affecting traders.
“If it is true that Ham is the one who dismantled part of Owino Market, I believe there are ways of resolving such matters. Those traders used their own money to buy that place. I feel bad if he continues doing that without first negotiating with them,” Katongole said.

Yesterday, traders in Owino Market came out claiming that Kiggundu demolished part of their building without compensating them. The matter has since attracted criticism from members of the public, with some accusing the businessman of engaging in unlawful activities.
