Muslims who gathered at Nakivubo Playground in Kampala to celebrate Eid al-Fitr have been urged to maintain good behavior even after the holy month of Ramadan. The call was made by Sheikh Kyobe Ali Ibrahim, who led the Eid prayers.
He encouraged believers to continue practicing the values of discipline, patience, and righteousness that they observed during Ramadan. Muslims who attended the prayers thanked Allah for enabling them to complete the fasting period and pledged to uphold good conduct in their daily lives.
In a similar message, Prince Kassim Nakibinge, while addressing celebrants at his home in Kampala, thanked Allah for enabling Muslims worldwide to successfully complete the holy month. He congratulated those who managed to fast and prayed that their acts of worship are accepted.
Prince Nakibinge also used the occasion to comment on national matters, congratulating those who won in the recent elections and encouraging those who lost not to lose hope. He called on the government to release political prisoners, especially those who have been detained for long periods without resolution of their cases.
He further appealed to authorities, including the Minister for Kampala and Metropolitan Affairs and the Lord Mayor, to ensure fair compensation for residents affected by recent floods in Kampala. He urged religious leaders to continue advocating for justice and peace for those who suffered during the election period and other hardships.
The celebrations were attended by political leaders, Muslim clerics, and members of the public.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of Nsooba Slaughter House in Kampala, Seekanyo Suleiman, noted that the price of beef has slightly increased due to changing weather conditions affecting livestock. He said about 150 heads of cattle were slaughtered to meet the demand during the celebrations and wished all Ugandans a happy Eid.
