The Uganda Peoples Congress (UPC) has welcomed the recently released 2025 crime report by the Uganda Police Force, which indicates a decline in crime across the country.

According to the report, crime fell by 10.2 per cent, an improvement from the 4.1 per cent decline recorded in 2024.

Speaking to the media at the party headquarters in Kampala, UPC Head of Media Muzeyi Faizo commended the progress made in combating crime but cautioned security agencies against complacency.

“The party welcomes the annual report showing a decrease of 10.2 per cent. However, the Uganda Police Force and sister security agencies should not relax based on these statistics,” Faizo said.

He emphasised the need for strengthened collaboration between security agencies and the public, noting that effective law enforcement depends on restoring trust and cooperation within communities. Faizo also highlighted the importance of public awareness in crime prevention.

“Authorities must educate the public on the importance of timely reporting of crimes and preserving crime scenes without interference. This will facilitate investigations and prosecutions by ensuring credible evidence is available,” he added.

Faizo further pointed out challenges facing the police force, including understaffing, which he said continues to affect service delivery. He called on the judiciary and other stakeholders to support efforts in the fight against crime.

In a related message, the UPC joined Christians in marking the Easter season, urging Ugandans to reflect on moral values.

“We join our Christian brothers and sisters in celebrating Easter. It has not been easy to reach this period, as we reflect on the suffering and crucifixion of Jesus Christ, with the promise of resurrection and salvation,” Faizo said.

He also called on citizens to shun greed and corruption, warning that such practices hinder national development. He urged Ugandans to embrace integrity and live according to godly values.
