President Museveni to pick expression of interest forms on Saturday

The president of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni who also serves as the chairman of National Resistance Movement (NRM) party, will be picking expression of interest forms from the party’s Electoral Commission headquarters in Kampala on Saturday. Addressing journalists, today at the party headquarters, the NRM Electoral Commission chairperson, Dr. Tanga Odoi, told journalists that the president will be picking two forms. Namely; the one for party chairman and the one for presidency.

“On Saturday 28th, the party chairman and the president of this country, will pick forms of expression of interest from here, to contest for chairman of the party and as the party flag bearer as president,” he said. Today marks day 6 since the process of nomination started. The members who have been able to be nominated are; Hajji Abdul Kiyimba to contest for Busiro East, Dr. Thadeous Musoke Nagenda for Lord Mayor, Vanice Naturinda for Mbarara City, among others.

Members who have been nominated told the media that they are the best candidates for the positions and they are going to work for their people. “I’m going to work for the people of Kampala because those who are here have done nothing that’s why I have come out to clean up Kampala and to work for the people,” Musoke said. The Chairperson of the party Electoral Commission has confirmed that the process will be ending on 30th June 2025 and those to contest on Central Executive Committee positions will start expressing interest on 26th June to 4th July 2025 respectively.
