The executive director of the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has officially released the 2025 examination timetable, with over one million candidates set to sit for exams this year. The announcement was made today during a press conference at the Uganda Media Centre in Kampala.
“It is my pleasure to release the 2025 timetable. Heads of Centers can access the timetables from their school portals. Hard copies will also be provided along with the other stationery. UNEB has printed enough copies for all candidates, and therefore, schools should ensure that every candidate receives a copy of the timetable as part of the preparation process. The timetables should also be displayed on the school noticeboards for interested parties to access. Braille versions of the UCE, as well as UACE timetables, have also been provided for Special Needs Education (SNE) candidates with visual impairments,” he said.
The executive director further stated that the timetable covers the Primary Leaving Examination (PLE), Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE), and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE). This will mark the second time UNEB will assess candidates under the Competency-Based Curriculum for UCE.
The examinations will commence with a briefing of UCE candidates on Friday, October 10th, followed by the PLE starting on Friday, October 31st, and the UACE on November 7th, 2025. As part of its mandate to assess learners under the new lower secondary curriculum, UNEB issues a project theme for Senior Three learners, guiding them to develop integrated projects for end-of-cycle certification.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, through spokesperson Simon Mundeyi, confirmed that Uganda will commemorate the September Africa Amnesty Month at Speke Resort Munyonyo from October 2nd to 3rd, 2025. The ministry is urging anyone in possession of weapons to voluntarily surrender them.
Organized under the African Union’s Peace and Security Council, the event will run under the theme, “Safer Communities Through Voluntary Disarmament.” ACP Florence Kirabira, Coordinator for Small Arms and Light Weapons, stated, “The AAM promotes voluntary surrender of illegal firearms without prosecution, aiming to create safer communities and support the African Union’s goal of silencing the guns.” The event will gather representatives from the AU, EAC, UN, civil society, as well as youth and women groups.
