The Executive Director of the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has officially released the 2025 examination timetable, with over one million candidates expected to sit the exams this year. The announcement was made today during a press conference at the Uganda Media Centre in Kampala.

“It is my pleasure to release the 2025 timetable. Heads of Centres can access the timetables via their school portals. Hard copies will also be provided along with other stationery. UNEB has printed enough copies for all candidates, so schools should ensure that every candidate receives a copy of the timetable as part of their preparation. The timetables should also be displayed on school noticeboards for interested parties to access. Braille versions of the UCE and UACE timetables have also been provided for Special Needs Education (SNE) candidates with visual impairments,” he said.

The Executive Director further stated that the timetable covers the Primary Leaving Examination (PLE), Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE), and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE). This will mark the second time UNEB will assess candidates under the Competency-Based Curriculum for the UCE.

The examinations will commence with a briefing of UCE candidates on Friday, 10 October, followed by the PLE starting on Friday, 31 October, and the UACE on 7 November 2025. As part of its mandate to assess learners under the new lower secondary curriculum, UNEB issues a project theme for Senior Three learners, guiding them to develop integrated projects for end-of-cycle certification.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, through spokesperson Simon Mundeyi, confirmed that Uganda will commemorate Africa Amnesty Month at Speke Resort Munyonyo from 2 to 3 October 2025. The ministry is urging anyone in possession of weapons to surrender them voluntarily.

Organised under the African Union’s Peace and Security Council, the event will run under the theme, “Safer Communities Through Voluntary Disarmament.” ACP Florence Kirabira, Coordinator for Small Arms and Light Weapons, stated, “The AAM promotes the voluntary surrender of illegal firearms without prosecution, aiming to create safer communities and support the African Union’s goal of silencing the guns.”

The event will bring together representatives from the AU, EAC, UN, civil society, as well as youth and women’s groups.
