Following the ongoing war between Iran and Israel, the president of Uganda, and also the chairman of NAM from 2024 to 2027, Yoweri Museveni, has today come out and released a statement concerning the war and what should be done for peace to prevail in both countries. The president has confirmed that Uganda is still in good terms with the two countries and urged everyone in the world to also pray to God so that he intervenes in the war which has caused many people to lose their lives and properties destroyed. Yesterday, Uganda repatriated its citizens who have been studying from Iran due to the war and the process was spearheaded by the prime minister Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja among other government agencies.

“Citizens of the world, the other day, I saw a complaint by the Iranian ambassador to Uganda as to why we have not commented on the tragic situation in the middle east. It is true that we have not yet externalized our long-held views on that situation. Good enough, we have got good relations with both Israel and Iran. In our long resistance, we abhor chauvinism of identity or gender. We always stand for the politics of interests,” he said. Adding that, therefore, force should be before legitimate defense and not aggression.

“We appeal and advise the actors in the Middle East to draw back from the use of force and go back to the principled diplomacy. Iran and the Israel should listen to our advice. As I conclude, I would like to use this opportunity to remind all of us that we are all praying people. It is time that we all agree to pray to God and consult that creator that cares for all of us without preference. May we have the willingness to humble ourselves and pray and ask God’s wisdom, that we may do what is right in his eyes,” Museveni said.

It should be remembered that if the two countries, namely; Iran and Israel, don’t agree to stop the war, many people are likely to lose their lives and also many properties are about to be destroyed by the strong weapons used in the war. Like the president said, many Ugandans have been calling upon the world, especially the two countries to stop the war due to its long-term effects. And many of them we talked with concerning the war, have been calling upon God to do something in order for the war to come to an end before it worsens.
