In this audio interview, Irene Abalo, a woman councilor, in Westland A, Kitgum district, and Resty Mwanje woman councilor, in Nyendo, Mukungwe, Masaka city share learnings from the training they participated in. Uganda Media Women’s Association in June conducted training for women in politics in the target districts of Kampala, Masindi, Hoima, Mbarara, Kitgum, Masaka, and Tororo. The objective of the training is to increase the capacity of women in politics in strategic media use. UMWA is implementing a project in partnership with the Royal Danish Embassy code named: Media for Gender Equality and Social Justice Leaving No One Behind. The purpose of the project is to improve the portrayal of women in politics and women at large by promoting gender-responsive reporting and contributing to the elimination of stereotypes in Uganda by 2023.
