In an effort to empower youths, Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo, the national coordinator of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party’s Office of the National Chairman (ONC) at Kyambogo, has urged the youths of Wakiso to get involved in all government programmes.
Hajjat Namyalo spoke at the ONC headquarters in Kyambogo during a press conference, announcing the launch of the Youth and Women Empowerment Programme. The programme will be held at Muslim grounds in Entebbe, Wakiso district, aiming to empower youths in the Entebbe area.
The programme will be launched on June 27, 2024, where they will distribute items including fishing nets, boots, life jackets, motorcycles, and others.
Hajjat Namyalo emphasised that failing to seize this opportunity would mean depriving oneself and one’s family of escaping poverty. She further stated that once the scheme is initiated, it will expand to other regions nationwide, aiming to generate employment opportunities for young people.
On the matter of mishandling the scholarship project involving the Republic of Iran, Namyalo distanced herself from the allegations. She clarified that the Iranian Ahlul-Bayt International University scholarships were negotiated by ONC Kyambogo during her tenure, aiming to foster the development of capable citizens poised to contribute to Uganda’s progress.
Namyalo, however, stated that a group of students affected by an alleged scholarship issue wrote to President Museveni, accusing the coordinator of failing to provide them with financial support during their stay in Iran. She described this as political maneuvering by individuals seeking personal gain. She emphasised the need for a police investigation to uncover the truth, asserting that she cannot be held accountable for the actions of others.
