Ministry of Agriculture to Establish Independent Agency for Veterinary and Agricultural Drugs.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry, and Fisheries has announced plans to establish a separate agency that will focus on matters related to veterinary and agricultural drugs. Currently, the National Drug Authority, which primarily focuses on human medicine, is responsible for these areas as well.

This was revealed by the Minister of State for Agriculture Hon. Fred Bwino Kyakulaga while addressing journalists at the Media Centre during celebrations for World Food Day.

In the same context, the Minister spoke about World Food Day, which is celebrated every year on October 16.

This year’s celebrations will take place in Serere District under the theme of ensuring that everyone has the right to access food. The event will focus on how people in drought-prone areas such as Gulu are managing to grow food despite the challenges.
