These women-led businesses are the first beneficiaries of the Advancing Women Entrepreneurs initiative, launched by MTN Uganda in partnership with various organisations, including ATC Uganda. The initiative, spearheaded by MTN Uganda, aims to empower more women to take on larger business roles in the telecom sector and integrate women entrepreneurs into its supply chain.

This programme focuses on expanding the supply base, building strong partnerships, enhancing business capacity, and cultivating sustainable ecosystems.

Speaking at the handover of contracts and the launch of works in Maya, Dorothy Semanda Kabagambe, CEO of ATC Uganda, said, “ATC Uganda is proud to lead in empowering women entrepreneurs by integrating them into the supply chain and providing them with opportunities in engineering and technology.”

Kabagambe states that this is more than just a business decision; it is a commitment to gender equality and sustainable development.

“ATC Uganda is dedicated to supporting these women as they contribute to their solar installation projects, helping to reduce environmental impact while fostering inclusive growth,” Kabagambe said. Sylvia Mulinge, MTN Uganda Chief Executive Officer, added that they are filled with pride as they witness ATC Uganda hand over contracts to eight remarkable women-owned companies.

“This achievement is particularly meaningful as it reflects the success of the Advancing Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) initiative, which MTN Uganda spearheads to promote diversity and inclusion by integrating women entrepreneurs into their supply chain,” Mulinge said.
