Business Traders enters the second day of their strike, protesting the government’s new tax measures and EFRIS system.

Traders were supposed to meet with President Yoweri Museveni yesterday at Kololo airstrip but unfortunately the meeting was halted.

It’s reported that these traders have had various meetings with the president, but they haven’t found a solution.

After the failed meeting, they decided to close their shops, saying that the taxes have affected them, and they’re also unhappy with the new EFRIS system introduced by the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA), which they say is burdensome.

Some traders have reopened their shops, but others have refused, saying they won’t until President Museveni intervenes and addresses their concerns about high taxes and EFRIS system.
