When war tears families apart, children are left to face unimaginable challenges alone.

South Sudan’s civil conflict is a reminder of this reality. Thousands of children have fled to Uganda, seeking refuge from violence and instability. Many arrive without parents, forced to navigate the harsh realities of displacement.

In Uganda’s Kiryandongo Refugee Settlement, these children struggle to survive. Cinderella Ayebare’s inspiring report showcases resilience of child-headed families who’ve overcome trauma and loss to access education.
