Mr Edward Tahura, a medic and councilor representing persons living with mental health conditions, says continuous community sensitization can play a significant role in reducing stigma surrounding mental health.
He emphasizes that people experiencing mental health challenges may also isolate themselves due to stigma and the lack of adequate support. He notes that the health system still has much to do to ensure that people with mental health conditions receive quality and appropriate services.
