False: Bobi Wine’s house has not been demolished

11 May 2026, 9:56 pm

A TikTok Video by @truelies54 Showing Robert Kyagulanyi’s house being demolished is AI-Generated and Misleading.

Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, popularly known as Bobi Wine, is a Ugandan politician, activist and former musician who has emerged as one of the country’s leading opposition figures. He has contested for the presidency twice, positioning himself as a voice for change, particularly among young people.

Our fact-check team found a post on TikTok from “truelies54” showing  the house of Bobi Wine being demolished by an excavator, suggesting the property is being brought down with captions written on “Bobi Wine has no plan at all, it had to be demolished.”

This misinformation comes at a time when authorities, including the Ministry of Local Government and Kampala Capital City Authority, are enforcing trade order measures targeting businesses operating in road reserves and unplanned structures alongside the roads like kiosks  in cities, making such demolition claims appear believable even when they are not verified

The claim that Bobi Wine’s house has been demolished

The video has  gained 13,000+ likes, 316 comments, 1,096 bookmarks, and 2,391 shares/reposts, showing strong public engagement.

Findings:

Although the house shown in the video resembles Bobi Wine’s residence, the demolition footage is not authentic.

A close examination of the video shows the presence of the “VEO” watermark/logo in the bottom-right corner. VEO is associated with AI-generated video creation tools, indicating that the demolition sequence was artificially generated rather than captured from a real-life event.

Online reactions

Screenshot of the comment section showed mixed reactions from viewers, with some users expressing concern while others questioned the authenticity of the footage. Comments included: “Are you sure Tell me it is true,” “so sorry,” and “It is not true.”

Info verifier tool

Therefore, according to InfoVerifier, there is no confirmed evidence that Robert Kyagulanyi’s house was demolished.

Methodology:

To verify the claim, our team used the following methods:

Visual Analysis
We reviewed the video and identified the “VEO” watermark/logo, which is commonly associated with AI-generated video content.

Reverse Image Search
We conducted reverse image searches using Google to identify whether authentic images or reports existed showing the alleged demolition and none were found.

Cross-Checking Official Sources
We reviewed official communication channels linked to Bobi Wine and the National Unity Platform for any confirmation or statement regarding the claim of which none was reported.

Media Verification
We searched for reports from credible media organizations and found no evidence supporting the demolition claim.

Verdict: False.

The video is misleading and AI-generated in its demolition scene. While the house shown resembles that of Bobi Wine, there is no real demolition taking place, and the content is designed to simulate an event that did not occur.
