Mama FM hosts public talks on boy child rights at honey sackle junior school

Mama FM’s Child’s Show, hosted by Robinah Nanfuka, held a public discussion on the rights of the boy child at Honey Sackle Junior School in Luweero . The event aimed to create awareness and balance the focus, which typically prioritizes girls’ rights.

The event drew a large crowd of pupils, teachers, parents, and child rights advocates. Bagoba Musitafah, Headteacher; Kirya Simon, Director of Studies; Ssempijja Shamapo, Headboy; Nooh Ssemata, pupil; and Queen Taraa and other Little Miss Uganda queens were among those who shared their views.

During the talks, primary pupils shared their experiences, highlighting the plight of boys. Headteacher Bagoba Musitafah emphasized the need for balanced punishment, citing concerns that boys often receive harsher treatment.

“It’s time to also mind about the boys because at times the punishment itself is not balanced,” Musitafah said.

Headboy Ssempijja Shamapo expressed concerns about boys missing out on parental love, saying, “Boys miss love from their parents because they only want to hear about girls.”

Nooh Ssemata shared his personal struggle with an absent father, saying, “My father left home and I haven’t heard from him; my mother is taking care of me.”
