503 staff at Busitema University to benefit medical insurance cover from UAP old mutual

Busitema University has declared that their staff are going to get medical cover insurance which is to relief the medical burdens and expenditures.
While signing the contract between AUP Old Mutual Insurance Company and University at the Makarere liaison office, the vice chancellor Prof.Paul Wako said, his staff have been struggling spending their salaries on medical. ’’Our staff have been going to private health services to get medical assistance and yet it is expensive, we believe this has come to an end” he said.
The one year renew-able insurance is to cover Maternity for women, in & out patient, Funeral services and dental services up to 5milion.
Prof. Wako appreciated Government for accepting the release cover of 400 million to which they trusted AUP Old Mutual after a competitive beading and the insurance is beginning in April this year. The chancellor added that most of the staff salaries have gone into medical, transportation and other services which have affected their active participation at the University ‘’we have different branches some of which are in rural areas like one of Namasagali in Kamuli district, reaching a health facility requires much inputs’’
The University is said to be having 6,000 students which ranks it among the fastest growing is the region with demanding courses which includes mining, textile, research and innovations among others
Tumwesigye Gilbert, on behalf of UAP Assurance said they are ready to take on the medical cover and appreciated the University for choosing them among-st other providers.
