40,000 pilgrims expected at Namugongo Anglican site on 3rd June

Eastern Cluster dioceses who are heading this year’s c Martyrs day celebrations at Anglican site have confirmed how they are planning for 40,000 people on 3rd June. The Cluster say, the celebrations will be under the theme “United for sustainable service and growth’’ where the pilgrims are to get sessions on financial training as well as spiritual training says.
This will be the first time Amphitheater will be used as compared to other years though little constructions are still taking place.
The Rev. Canon Samuel George Bogere Egesa, Bishop of Bukedi dioceses who is spear heading the program has told the told the press that, the Eastern cluster is consisted of 10 dioceses which include Sebei, Kumi, Busoga , Noth Mbale, karamoja, soroti among others and are working hand in hand to have the best function and better reception for pilgrims. Bishop Egesa told media that they have invited The Most Rev. Dr. Foley Beach , the Anglican Church in North America’s Archbishop to be the main preacher of the day and confirmed of his presence
The First deputy Prime Minister and Minister for East African Affairs Rebecca Alitwara Kadaga who is also chairing the Central executive committee for this function said President Yoweri Museveni is except to be the chief Guest while Archbishop Kazimba Mugalu will be the main celebrant. Kadaga adds that there will be pre activities towards the main day such such profiling dioceses, Elders and Historical sites. ‘’ Eastern has unique story and we will profile them to have one magazine, for instance , Bishop Haningstone, St. Balikuddembe, St. Gonzaga Gonza , Matia Mulumba among others were murdered in East and little are known about them” kadaga said.
Kadaga further said are working hard to rise about 600milions to facilitate the function and will soon have a fundraising dinner at imperial Royale hotel in Kampala to mobilize these resources.
