On June 29, 2024, Pte Birivumbuka Herbertson Robert, a soldier attached to the Special Force Command (SFC), escaped from work and went to Namale village, Kabayingire parish, Buwaya subcounty, Mayuge district, where he allegedly shot four close family members dead and injured others.
After committing the offense, the soldier rushed back to work to avoid suspicion, but his unit had already detected his absence. Upon his return, he was arrested as all evidence pointed to him. He is now detained in the SFC facility, awaiting justice.
Maj Sam Omara, the SFC spokesperson, urges the people of Namale to cooperate with investigators so the suspect can swiftly face the law.
