Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has postponed the city festival to 12th October 2025 to allow for better preparations, Executive Director Sharifa Buzeki announced yesterday at the Uganda Media Centre.
The festival was originally scheduled for 5th October 2025. Buzeki encouraged residents to enjoy the Independence Day holiday and attend the festival on Sunday.
In recent activities, KCCA officials have been teaching small-scale farming and visiting babies’ homes, including Sanyu Babies Home and Nsambya in Makindye Division. The visits aimed to show care for the children and remind the public to support these homes, which face resource shortages amid increasing numbers of babies.
On safety, Uganda Police spokesperson ASP Rusoke Kituuma assured the public that security measures for the festival are in place. He urged attendees to avoid engaging in illegal activities, saying:
“When you come to the festival, don’t engage in illegal business.”
The festival at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds will feature religious activities for both Muslims and Christians, offering attendees an opportunity to learn more about their faith. Entry to the festival is free. Uganda last held a city festival during the tenure of former KCCA Executive Director Jennifer Musisi.
