Kamoga George, an aspiring mayor for Kakiri town council in Wakiso district, has emphasised the importance of social capital in community development. Speaking to members of God Is Able Cooperative Group in Kiteredde Village, Kamoga said that collective efforts are key to improving livelihoods and fostering unity among residents.
“I’m really grateful that people of this village decided to form such a group that is very important for the development of its members,” he said. “I call upon people in this village to form such cooperative groups because they bring about unity and development in and around the villages.”
Kamoga also pledged that, once elected, he will source more funds to support and strengthen cooperative groups in Kakiri town council.
Meanwhile, the chairperson of Kiteredde village, Ms Katusabe Grace, who also serves as the treasurer of God Is Able Cooperative Group, praised the initiative for its impact on community welfare. She noted that the group has helped members build friendships, access small loans to boost their businesses, and support one another during difficult times.
“Today Mr. Kamoga George has come to pay us a courtesy visit. Though he is standing for the post of Mayor Kakiri town council, he has decided to join our group as a member and has promised to provide us with 100 plates,” said Katusabe. “We thank him very much and call upon all those contesting for leadership positions to think about the people they represent and find solutions to their problems.”
