A solemn prayer service was held in Ggaba, Kampala, following a tragic incident in which a man attacked a daycare centre, killing four children—three boys and one girl.

The service, organised by Ggaba Community Church and the school management, aimed to pray for the departed and offer comfort to the grieving families. It was attended by ministers, religious leaders, and members of the public.

During the service, Apostle Joseph Serwada of Victory Christian Centre called on the government to ensure that the suspect faces a punishment commensurate with the gravity of the crime.

Representing the government, State Minister for Youth and Children Affairs, Hon. Balam Barugahara, strongly condemned the killings and assured the public that justice will be served. He confirmed that the suspect had been arrested and pledged continued government support for the affected families.

The minister also revealed that the government had decided to reopen other schools under Ggaba Community Church, with the exception of the daycare centre, which remains closed pending investigations. He added that each affected family would receive 10 million Uganda shillings in support, as conveyed by the President.

“We strongly condemn what happened. The government acted swiftly through the Police to arrest the suspect. We grieve with the families and pray that God strengthens them during this difficult time,” he said.

He further commended the role of private schools in supporting government efforts in education.

The lead pastor of Ggaba Community Church, Pastor Peter Kasirivu, thanked God for the lives of the children and prayed for healing among the bereaved families.

“We thank God for the children and pray that He heals the hearts of the parents and everyone affected. We also appreciate the Police and all who have supported us during this time,” he said.

Minister for Kampala, Minsa Kabanda, encouraged parents to remain strong and place their trust in God for comfort.

Meanwhile, Kampala Lord Mayor-elect Ronald Balimwezo called on the government to strengthen security measures to prevent similar incidents.

Other attendees included Apostle Grace Lubega of Phaneroo Ministries, counsellors, and community members.
