Nuhu, a primary 4 pupil at Honey Suckle Primary School in Kireka, Luweero district, faces significant obstacles in pursuing his education. His father, Hajji Kakooza, with a large family to support, neglects Nuhu’s right to education. It falls upon his mother to shoulder the burden of school expenses, but currently, she struggles to meet the financial requirements.

Thankfully, Mr. Meddy Kajiri Kalyamaggwa, the director of Honey Suckle Primary School, steps in to support Nuhu in realizing his dreams. Recognizing the broader challenges faced by the school, Mr. Kalyamaggwa highlights a troubling trend: many men fail to fulfill their responsibility of paying school fees for their children. Instead, it is often the mothers who struggle to meet these financial demands. This imbalance not only jeopardizes the education and future prospects of children like Nuhu but also impacts the school’s overall performance.

In response to these challenges, Mr. Kalyamaggwa urges men to embrace their roles in providing for their children’s education. He emphasizes the importance of parental involvement in securing a brighter future for the next generation.

Nanfuka Robinah, a presenter on a children’s talk show program, amplifies this message, calling for collective action to address the systemic barriers that hinder children’s access to education. By raising awareness and fostering community support, she aims to create a more inclusive and equitable educational environment for all children, including Nuhu, to thrive and fulfill their dreams.
