As part of the government’s efforts to support and promote creative talents, including musicians, actors, film producers, writers, journalists, and others, the Government of Uganda has launched a creatives’ fund known as the Creative Uganda Resolve Fund, with an allocation of Shs 28 billion in the 2025/2026 national budget.

Addressing journalists at the Government Media Centre in Kampala, the State Minister for Gender and Culture in the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development, Hon. Peace Mutuuzo, said the funds are intended to enhance talent development and quality across the country, as well as create more jobs, particularly for the youth. She added that the money will be accessed through SACCOs formed by different creative groups, some of which have already begun benefiting.

She further explained that the initiative aims to support creatives nationwide by promoting innovation and creativity. Fashion designer and creative artist Sylvia Owori expressed excitement about the initiative, saying it will significantly boost creativity and innovation among artists across Uganda.

Kakembo Sinani, a counsellor representing Wakiso District, as well as a film actor and founder of the Uganda Federation of Movie Industry, praised the government for supporting creatives to benefit from the fund. He encouraged fellow artists to unite and take full advantage of the opportunity under the copyright law.

Veteran musician and head of the National Cultural Forum, Dan Ragga Dee, said the initiative will help streamline and strengthen creativity in the country while curbing piracy.
