Police in Lamwo district are hunting for suspects belonging to Lawi Clan for allegedly attacking the Ding Ding clan leaving 14 grass-thatched houses reduced to ashes in Lukung subcounty.

Thirteen suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident that occurred on April 5, 2025, at 8 am in Omwa village, Parapono parish, Lukung subcounty in Lamwo district.

IP Joe Oloya, the Aswa East Police Spokesperson, stated that the two clans, Ding Ding and Lawi, had land disputes for some time.

He explained that on Saturday, April 5, 2025, organised groups from the Lawi clan attacked the Ding Ding clan, looting items worth millions of shillings and assaulting clan members.

Oloya confirmed that 13 suspects are being held at Lamwo Central Police Station while the hunt for more suspects is still ongoing.

He urged the suspects to surrender and report to the nearest police station and record statements. He also condemned conflicts arising from land between clan members or within families in the region.

He urged clan leaders and local leaders to resolve the land issue amicably before it gets out of hand.
