Women journalists in Uganda are leaving newsrooms in search of greener pastures. They are primarily leaving due to poor pay, sexual harassment, violence, and intimidation from both the state and the public. The Human Rights Network for Journalists-Uganda reported in 2018 that 12% of women journalists had experienced abuses and violations, including death threats and arrests. These violations are contributing to their departure from the newsroom.
