Nabbumba Joan, a 15-year-old girl from Luwero district, Uganda, has been battling epilepsy without adequate support. Denied by her mother at the tender age of 2, Joan has been living with her grandmother, Nassimbwa Jessica, in Kireka village, Kalagala Sub county.
Before receiving proper medical attention, Joan’s family sought help from witch doctors, spending considerable amounts on rituals, including buying goats and hens. However, their financial situation has since deteriorated. Fortunately, Every Child Ministries, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting children with disabilities, stepped in to provide assistance.
Through the organization’s efforts, Joan was taken to Bombo Army Hospital and later referred to the specialized Butabika Hospital for treatment. She received medication and was further referred to Mulago Hospital for continued care. Unfortunately, due to her physical condition, she requires assistance to access these services, which her family cannot provide due to financial constraints.
Nassimbwa Jessica, Joan’s grandmother, is appealing for support to ensure her granddaughter receives the necessary care. Specifically, they need medical care, nutritional support, and physical assistance to help with lifting and transporting Joan to medical appointments.
Every Child Ministries, in collaboration with Mama FM’s children talk show program, has been instrumental in providing assistance to Joan. If you or your organization would like to support Nabbumba Joan, please reach out to Every Child Ministries for more information on how to contribute.
