State-of-the-art new UNFFE secretariat.

Farmers are set to construct a 35 billion-shilling tower in the heart of Kampala to centralise agricultural activities and boost productivity. The Uganda National Farmers Federation (UNFFE) announced the ambitious project during their annual general meeting, seeking support from President Yoweri Museveni.

The tower will include an agricultural service hub, farmer commodity services, agricultural innovations, microfinance services, and rental spaces. UNFFE Chairperson, Dr Dick Nuwamanya Kamuganga, noted that the federation has a presence in 146 districts and expressed optimism about the project’s potential to transform the agricultural sector for the country’s 11.5 million farmers.

This initiative aligns with Uganda’s agricultural goals, focusing on increasing production, improving markets, and strengthening institutional capacity.

Mukiibi Dauda, Chairperson of farmers in Wakiso District, praised the government’s support for agriculture through programmes such as Emyooga, Operation Wealth Creation, and the Parish Development Model.

Farmers also announced a 17-day campaign to encourage the population to vote for President Museveni in the 2026–2031 general elections.
