The Vice Chancellor of Victoria University, Professor Lawrence Muganga, has paid tribute to women for their vital role in shaping families, communities, and institutions as the world commemorates International Women’s Day.

In his message marking the annual celebration observed every March 8, Muganga described women as the foundation of society and applauded their selfless contributions to humanity.

He noted that while the day offers an opportunity to celebrate women, their importance should be recognized throughout the year.

It’s that time of the year when we remember the very important people in our lives the women in our families, our country, and our world, Muganga said.

But it’s not enough to simply remember them for a day.”Reflecting on his personal life, the Vice Chancellor credited his late mother for shaping his character and values, saying her influence continues to guide him.

Having been raised by an incredible mother, I believe her passion and spirit live in me today, he said.

According to Mugaga, many achievements in society are made possible through the dedication and support of women.

“From the time when we are nothing to the time when we become something, women are there for us,” he noted.

He also expressed gratitude to women everywhere, encouraging them to recognize their value and the impact they make in everyday life.

“If you are a woman, a girl, a mother, or a grandmother, whatever you do, know that we appreciate you,” Muganga said.

Muganga extended his International Women’s Day wishes to the women of Victoria University, women across Uganda, and women around the world, urging society to continue recognizing their strength, resilience, and leadership.
