Winnie Mirembe is a young climate justice champion who together with her community members have tirelessly put efforts to promote sustainable development and climate justice. As a passionate community development professional, Winnie has dedicated herself to supporting grassroots communities in various areas, including water, sanitation & hygiene (WASH), green energy, youth climate action, and waste management.
With a wealth of experience in leadership roles, Winnie has served as the Ghetto Go Green Community Project Coordinator in Mbuya 2 Kunya Zone and held secretary positions in various youth advocacy structures. Her commitment to environmental conservation and climate action has earned her recognition as the Chairperson of the Buganda Youth Council (Mbuya 1 & 2) and Environment Coordinator of the Diocese of Kampala Youth Council.
As the founder of the Mbuya 2 Community Development Network, a community-based organisation focused on climate action and WASH advocacy, Winnie continues to inspire and mobilise her community towards a more sustainable future. Her election as the Nakawa Female Youth Advisor on the Youth Advisory Panel of Plan International Uganda is a testament to her dedication and leadership potential.
Winnie’s story serves as a powerful example of the impact one individual can have on their community and the environment. Her passion for climate justice and sustainable development is an inspiration to us all, and her work is certainly worth watching in the years to come
