The National Resistance Movement (NRM) presidential candidate, Gen Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, has unveiled a range of wealth and job creation initiatives aimed at improving livelihoods in Wakiso District, as he continues his campaign ahead of the forthcoming General Elections.
Addressing supporters at an NRM presidential campaign rally at the Entebbe Municipality Playgrounds, Museveni said Wakiso’s rapidly growing population and strategic location position the district as a key driver of economic growth.
He highlighted priority sectors for investment, including skills development and artisanship, smart eco-factories, fish processing, peri-urban commercial agriculture, tourism, and real estate development.
The President urged residents to take advantage of existing government programmes, noting that the NRM administration has already laid a strong economic foundation that employs millions of Ugandans nationwide.
He added that increased funding and expanded opportunities would further unlock Wakiso’s potential if the NRM retains power.
Museveni also pledged to fast-track critical infrastructure projects in Wakiso and Entebbe to ease transport and support business growth. These include the Kisubi–Nakawuka–Mpigi Road, the Nakawuka–Nateete Road, and other ongoing works aimed at improving mobility within the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area.
He cautioned voters against what he described as opportunistic opposition politicians, accusing them of frustrating government development programmes.
Museveni urged the electorate to support NRM flag bearers, arguing that this would ensure smoother implementation and effective supervision of government initiatives.

The First Lady and Minister for Education and Sports, Janet Kataaha Museveni, attributed Wakiso’s development gains to the NRM’s long-standing emphasis on peace and stability.
She reminded residents of the progress Uganda has made under the party’s leadership, noting that sustained stability remains critical to continued development.
NRM First National Vice Chairperson, Alhaji Moses Kigongo, called on party members in Wakiso and Entebbe to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the elections.
He emphasised the need for discipline, unity and mutual respect during and after the campaign period to secure a decisive victory.
NRM Second National Vice Chairperson (Female), Anita Among, outlined several major infrastructure projects currently underway in Wakiso District.
These include the Shs35 billion Lubugumu–Busabala Road, the Shs15.5 billion Kitoolo–Kawuku Road, and the Shs23 billion Entebbe–Nakiwogo Road and Bridge project.
She also cited the 72-kilometre Mpigi–Nakawuka–Nateete Road and the second phase of the Entebbe International Airport expansion, which she said has created numerous job opportunities for local residents.
Among further proposed the establishment of a dedicated youth wealth fund to support young entrepreneurs.
She criticised opposition politicians in Wakiso, accusing them of frustrating government efforts to resettle victims of the Kiteezi garbage landslide.
Among claimed that political interference undermined earlier interventions and urged voters to support NRM candidates, whom she said are better positioned to deliver tangible development.

Meanwhile, Ian Kyeyune, an aspiring NRM candidate for Wakiso District LC5 chairperson, thanked President Museveni for offering himself as a candidate and praised fellow aspirants for their continued support.
Kyeyune said the participation of multiple candidates strengthens leadership and improves governance.
He also raised long-standing governance concerns at the district level, particularly the absence of a district councillor position, an issue he said has remained unresolved for more than 15 years.
Kyeyune called on stakeholders to prioritise the matter in order to improve representation and service delivery.
He concluded by appealing for unity and sustained commitment among leaders and citizens as the country works towards strengthening governance structures and achieving inclusive national development.
