The Kitgum Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Mr. Ebil Jimmy Ssegawa has directed the Town Clark Kitgum municipality to write to the contractor to temporarily stop renovating the GAPCO building.
The directive came in after several meetings held with Kitgum municipal councilors, GISO, Mayor and Kitgum Municipal Development Forum to scrutinise the procedures that were followed in awarding the contract and the amount of money injected in the renovation works.
Mr. Ebil revealed that a meeting held on Monday in the RDC’s boardroom resolved to temporarily stop the renovation, and that the Town Clark be instructed to write to the management of GAPCO to halt the renovation. He also directed the Speaker of the municipality to call for a council meeting within a week to have the matter resolved.
Mr. Kidega Patrick Paul, the Deputy Mayor Kitgum municipality said the municipal council will soon convene and resolved on whether or not to continue with the renovation works.
