Boda boda rider dies in Lamwo road accident

A 22-year-old boda boda rider, a resident of Abuka village in Palabek Gem sub-county, Lamwo District, has died in a road accident.

The deceased has been identified as Rwotomia Innocent, aged 22. It is alleged that on Tuesday, 22nd April 2025, at about 1 p.m., the rider, who was travelling alone on a Bajaj Boxer motorcycle with registration number UFS 732, was heading from Gem to Abuka village in Palabek Gem sub-county when he struck a pothole and died on the spot.

The Aswa East Regional Community Liaison Officer and spokesperson for the region, Inspector of Police (IP) Joe Oloya, stated that Mr Rwotomia Innocent died due to reckless riding, and that an inquiry into the incident is underway.

He added that the body was taken to Padibe Health Centre IV mortuary pending a post-mortem examination, while the motorcycle is being held at Palabek Gem Police Station pending inspection by the Inspector of Vehicles (IOV).
