In his address, Nalukoola also thanked the people of Kawempe North Constituency for voting for him though their was some challenges during the process. “This win however, is overshadowed by the mockery of democracy we witnessed. The intimidation of our electoral process demand that we stand firm and united. To the people of Kawempe North, your courage is unmatched. Amidst brutality and intimidation, you stood firm. As a philosopher once said, When you think of giving up, remember why you started,” he said.

Nalukoola went on to condemn the way journalists were treated during the by-election. “I condemn the actions of ministers, etc, who betrayed their duty to protect citizens. Elections are platforms for dialogue. The targeting of journalists during this by-election was unnecessary. The media is the eyes and ears of the public. We must have transparency in course of elections,” he explained.

Additionally, The secretary general of the party, Lewis Rubongoya, confirmed that if the DR forms were not present at the tally centre, in Makerere, it would be hard for them to challenge the results which he said were genuine. People who faced challenges during the by-elections, thanks the party for the support, and they promised to continue supporting the party, despite of the challenges they went through.
